MEATGRID has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Your progress, your coins and everything you have unlocked live on your own device. The game has no server to talk to and never sends us anything. The only two networks it ever touches are Apple's, when you buy something, and your own local one, when you play co-op with people in the same room. This website loads Google Analytics only if you accept it.
1. Who we are
MEATGRID is made by The Dutch Logic Co., based in the Netherlands. For anything in this policy you can reach us at support@thedutchlogic.nl.
Where this policy says "we", it means The Dutch Logic Co. Where it says "the game", it means MEATGRID for iPhone and iPad. Under the GDPR we are the controller for the handful of things described here — which, inside the game itself, is nothing at all.
2. What the game stores, and where
Everything MEATGRID remembers about you is written to the app's own storage on your device, in the standard place iOS gives an app for its settings. That is:
- Which levels you have finished, and how many of the six stars you took on each
- How many coins you have, and which levels you have bought with them
- Which weapons, upgrades and defences you own, and what is in your pack
- Your settings — sound and background volume, controls, difficulty last played
- A note that a coin pack was bought, so the coins are not handed to you twice
We have no server, no database and no account system, so none of this is sent to us and none of it can be. We cannot see your save, and there is nowhere for us to look. Delete the app and everything it stored goes with it.
There is no cloud save. Because the save never leaves the device, moving to a new phone does not bring your progress with it unless you restore that phone from a backup of the old one. An encrypted iPhone backup, in iCloud or on a computer, includes the game's save.
3. When the game uses a network
There are exactly two, and you can see both of them coming:
- Buying coins. The purchase goes through Apple's App Store with StoreKit. It never passes through us. See Purchases.
- Local co-op. Only while you are actually hosting or joining a game, and only over the network your phone is already on. See Local co-op.
Outside those two moments the game makes no network requests at all. Put the phone in airplane mode and the whole campaign — all five towns, all fifty levels, the shop, the upgrades — carries on working exactly as before.
4. Local co-op
Co-op uses Apple's MultipeerConnectivity, which finds nearby phones over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth without any server in the middle. iOS asks for permission the first time, and refusing it only disables co-op.
What the other players can see while a game is open:
- A name for your phone, so the host can tell one guest from another. The game uses the device name iOS reports for your phone, shortened to 30 characters. If you have given your phone a name that identifies you, that is the name the other players in the room will see — you can change it in Settings › General › About › Name.
- What is happening in the game. Where your man is, what he is holding, how much health he has, what you have built and what you are shooting at.
No part of your save, your purchases or your contacts crosses the wire. The connection is only open while the match is, and nothing about the match is recorded anywhere afterwards.
5. Purchases
MEATGRID sells coins — six pack sizes and a one-time starter kit — through the App Store with StoreKit 2. Coins are also earned simply by playing, and every weapon, upgrade and level in the game can be bought with earned coins. Nothing is locked behind a purchase.
The payment itself is entirely Apple's. We never see your card, your address, your Apple Account or your name. What the game receives back is a receipt saying a particular pack was paid for, which it reads on the device to hand you the coins. Apple's handling of the payment is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not by this one.
Asking the game to restore a purchase asks Apple, using the Apple Account already signed in on the device. It tells us nothing, because it never reaches us.
6. What we never do
The game contains none of the following:
| Accounts or logins | None. There is nothing to sign up for and no password to lose. |
|---|---|
| Analytics | None. No usage statistics, no session logging, no heatmaps, no "anonymous" telemetry. |
| Crash reporting | None. If it crashes, we only know because you tell us. |
| Advertising | None, and no ad network SDK is built into the app. |
| Tracking | None. The app does not read the advertising identifier and never asks for tracking permission. |
| Camera, microphone, photos | Never requested. The game has no use for any of them. |
| Location | Never requested. |
| Contacts, calendar, health | Never requested. |
| Third-party SDKs | None. The app is built on Apple's own frameworks and nothing else. |
Because there is no personal data in the app, there is also no data to sell, share or lose. It is not built to collect any.
7. This website
This page and the rest of thedutchlogic.nl are served over HTTPS by our hosting provider, which keeps ordinary server logs (IP address, the page requested, the time) for security and troubleshooting. That is the hosting provider's standard handling and the logs are kept only briefly.
We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read, and it is loaded
only after you accept it in the banner at the bottom of the screen. Decline
and no analytics script is loaded, no analytics cookie is set and nothing is
measured. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage under
dl-consent, and you can change it by clearing your site data for
this domain.
We do not use advertising cookies, and no advertising or social network scripts are embedded on these pages.
8. Children
MEATGRID is a shooting game with cartoon violence and is not aimed at young children; the App Store age rating on its page is the one to go by. The game collects nothing from anybody, of any age, so no parental consent is required for any processing — because there is none. It does contain optional purchases, and we would encourage parents to switch those off in Settings › Screen Time › Content & Privacy Restrictions if a child plays on that device.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its processing, and to have it handed over in a portable form.
In practice the answer to all of those is the same: we hold nothing. The game sends us nothing, so there is nothing for us to give you, correct or erase. If you have emailed us, we hold that email and whatever you chose to put in it — and we will delete it on request, which you can send to support@thedutchlogic.nl.
If you think we are handling something badly, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
10. Changes
If the game gains something that changes any of this — a leaderboard, a cloud save, anything with a server behind it — this page changes with it, before the feature ships, and the date at the top moves. There is no version of this document that quietly grows an analytics section.
11. Contact
Questions about this policy, or about anything the game does, go to a person:
